The kitchen is partially sectioned off from the rest by a drinks bar inspired by traditional stained glass, reinforcing the historic canal house feel. The raised kitchen floor has an old Dutch square tile pattern. By adding a mezzanine floor, there is also room for more lunch or dinner guests. All of the furniture has been designed by VASD. |

[tekst_nl] => Hoe maak je een gebouw dat ooit een bedrijfskantine was voor 250 man geschikt als cultureel centrum waar 1700 mensen zich goed en veilig kunnen vermaken? VASD ging de uitdaging aan met de Tolhuistuin, waarvan het casco inmiddels af is. Met respect voor de karakteristieke architectuur van Arthur Staal en een minimaal budget is een heel nieuw programma ingepast in het paviljoen. Er is ruimte gemaakt voor een gloednieuwe Paradiso-popzaal, een gigantische restaurant en grand café Staal, hiphopschool Solid Ground Movement , een expositieruimte, ticket office Noord en meer. Met de aanleg van het grootste en zonnigste terras en –balkon aan het water, is het gezicht van het gebouw naar het IJ gekeerd; pak de pont en komt het zien deze zomer!
