branko vlamings, spacial manuscriptThis book is a representation of Branko’s balcony, made with two pinhole cameras. Pinhole photography entails taking a picture of a space with a space. The light goes from the one space, in this case the balcony, to another space, the camera, without any intervening lenses. The image is directly projected onto light-sensitive paper inside the camera. The book can be seen in two ways. Firstly, as a spatial reflection of a given space; this happens when the book is half-open. The second interpretation sees the book as a “skin” which encases the space. This is reflected when the book is completely open. The manuscript has been displayed at various exhibitions and was added to the library collection of both NAi and Vedute art foundation. |

[tekst_en] => Transforming an uninsulated steel military depot into an accommodating exhibition area – how is that possible? Our answer is to create a new core in the heart of the old shell, thereby retaining as much of the original monument as possible. With lots of glass, interior vistas and surprising spaces there will be plenty to attract the visitors’ eye beyond the art on display. We will place a new structure inside the depot. In the winter this structure will be nice and warm, while in the summer it will remain comfortably cool. This new structure will comply with all modern construction regulations, creating a warm, inner core in the building which adapts to the different seasons. Apart from the exhibition area inside the warm core, another, outer exhibition area will recreate a sense of the outdoors, complete with an umbrella of corrugated iron. Imagine the atmosphere in this exhibition area during a summer shower!
